Product overview
Purpose-Built for Oversised Loads. Engineered for Strength.
The 20FT Used Flat Rack Shipping Container is built for transporting and storing over-gauge or irregular cargo that simply won’t fit inside a traditional container. With no roof or side walls, it provides unrestricted access from the top and sides — making it the go-to solution for loading with cranes, forklifts, or other heavy equipment.
Constructed from CORTEN anti-corrosive steel and built to meet CSC standards, this flat rack container is designed for industries requiring secure, heavy-duty, and weather-resilient equipment transport. Available with fixed-end or collapsible-end configurations.
Key features
- Structure: CORTEN anti-corrosive high-tensile steel
- Flooring: 28mm marine-grade solid plank plywood
- End Walls: Choice of fixed or collapsible ends (based on availability)
- Handling Access: Integrated forklift pockets
- Condition: Cargo Worthy – minor dents or surface rust expected
- Certification: CSC compliant – pre-dispatch inspected and ready for international or domestic use
- Service Life: Approx. 10–14 years in circulation
Why it works on site
- Open-access configuration supports loading from all directions
- Fixed-end walls provide greater rigidity for securing tall or off-centre loads
- Collapsible-end models offer stacking flexibility for return or storage logistics
- Plywood deck engineered to withstand uneven loads, tracked equipment, and impact from industrial machinery
- Intermodal-ready design with corner blocks for secure stacking, chaining, or tie-down during transport
Every container is thoroughly inspected to ensure compliance with CSC certification standards, and all tie-down points are validated for safe cargo lashing.
Typical applications
Heavy machinery & equipment
Suitable for loading engine blocks, industrial compressors, generators, and mining equipment.
Long & overlength cargo
Handles bundles of pipes, steel beams, utility poles, or any cargo that exceeds the width or height of enclosed containers.
Skid-Mounted units
Ideal base for transporting mobile pumps, portable generators, and process skids for chemical or energy sectors.
Vehicle shipping
Enables transport of track-driven, chassis-mounted, or irregular-profile vehicles that won’t clear roofed containers.
Agricultural implements
Provides temporary or long-haul staging for irrigation systems, plow assemblies, and oversised components.
Certification and inspection
Each container undergoes pre-dispatch inspection to ensure:
- Structural frame integrity and weld quality
- Deck surface condition for heavy or uneven cargo
- Forklift pocket access and clearances
- End-wall operability for collapsible units
- Tie-down points confirmed and rust-resistant
All units are CSC certified, making them suitable for global transport, intermodal systems, or permanent site-based deployment.
Condition
Used – inspected. Expect honest signs of service such as dents, scratches, previous markings and surface rust; structural soundness is checked before dispatch. Ask for current photos of the actual unit with your quote.
Supply and compliance notes
- Certifications, inclusions, condition and measured dimensions are confirmed on the quotation and at pre-dispatch inspection.
- Confirm council, planning and building approval requirements for the intended site and use before ordering.
- Electrical, plumbing and drainage connections must be completed by appropriately licensed trades.
Customisation
Personnel doors, windows, electrical fit-outs, lighting, insulation, air conditioning, shelving, lockboxes, flooring, internal lining, partitions and plumbing can be specified through a quote. Tell us how the unit will be used and we will confirm what suits it.
Custom solutionsDelivery
Delivery is coordinated Australia-wide from the Port Macquarie. Processing takes 1–3 business days; delivery is typically 4–7 business days after processing. The standard charge is $745 per unit (incl. GST) within our standard service area and is shown at checkout once you enter your postcode. Remote, restricted-access, multi-unit and oversize deliveries are confirmed by quotation.
Tilt tray: A straight run behind the placement point (typically about 2.5× the container length plus the truck), firm level ground and clear overhead height. The most common option for 6ft–20ft units: the tray tilts and the container slides off onto the ground.
Side loader: Clear space along one side of the truck for the stabiliser legs and the two lifting cranes, and room to park parallel to the drop. Lifts the container off the chassis and sets it down beside the vehicle; the usual choice for 20ft and 40ft units.
Hiab / crane truck: Firm ground for the outriggers and a placement point within the crane's reach. Suits sites where the unit has to go over a fence or into a corner a tilt tray cannot reach; reach depends on the crane model and the unit weight.
Illustrative only. Figures are typical; we confirm the vehicle and access with you before dispatch.
Site access
Before delivery, check for a firm, level placement area, clear truck access and turning room, gate width, overhead power lines and trees, and soft ground after rain. A tilt tray typically needs a straight run behind the placement point; side loaders need clear space along one side. Our team confirms the right vehicle with you before dispatch.
Warranty
Pre-owned units carry a 6 months limited voluntary warranty from delivery covering structural integrity and weather tightness, excluding disclosed cosmetic wear. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not limited by this warranty. Warranty policy · Returns
Questions
Frequently asked about this unit
Is this container wind and watertight?
Used containers are inspected and sold as wind and watertight unless the listing says otherwise; specialised units such as platforms, flat racks and open tops are inspected for structural soundness rather than weather tightness. Ask us for current photos of the actual unit.
Do you deliver interstate?
Yes. Delivery is coordinated Australia-wide from Port Macquarie. Regional, remote and oversize deliveries are confirmed by quotation before you pay.
Is GST included?
Every price on the site is in Australian dollars and includes 10% GST. Your tax invoice itemises the GST component.
