Product overview

Built for Oversised Cargo. Designed for Strength.

The 40FT Platform Container is a flat-deck, heavy-duty transport unit designed to move oversised and ultra-heavy cargo that traditional containers can’t accommodate. With a payload capacity of 40,520 kg, an open roof and side-free layout, and a flush high-tensile steel deck, this container provides the structural stability and anchoring performance required for demanding industrial, maritime, or intermodal logistics.

Whether used for mobile machinery, project freight, or yard staging, this platform container delivers maximum load performance, stackable engineering, and full ISO & CSC compliance.

Key features

  • Container Type: 40FT Platform – Flat deck, no roof or walls

  • Payload Capacity: Over 40 metric tons (40,520 kg)

  • Construction: Stackable CORTEN steel frame with high-tensile flush steel deck

  • Loading Profile: Low deck height (480 mm) for efficient crane/forklift compatibility

  • Twistlocks: Built-in for direct cargo lashing

  • Certification: CSC & ISO certified for global freight forwarding

  • Finish: Standard RAL5013 – Custom coatings available upon request

The absence of side and roof panels allows for complete multi-angle access, making this container ideal for irregular, over-height, and over-width cargo loads.

Why it works on site

Flush Steel Deck
Provides uniform load support across the surface. Designed to resist warping under point-loaded cargo such as tracked vehicles or reinforced skids.

Integrated Twistlocks
Facilitates safe and compliant anchoring of abnormal cargo profiles — including cranes, turbines, heavy drums, and machinery bases — without additional framing.

Open Architecture
With no roof or sidewalls, this platform enables efficient lateral and overhead loading for bulky or asymmetrical freight.

Low Deck Height
Only 480 mm from the ground, reducing lift height for forklifts, side loaders, or gantry cranes — especially beneficial for dense loads requiring tight clearance.

Multimodal Compatibility
Built for seamless handling by ships, railcars, yard lifts, and flatbed trailers. Ideal for long-haul transit across ports, depots, and project sites.

Stackable Format
When not in use, platform containers can be stacked securely, optimising space at logistics yards or staging zones.

Typical applications

Heavy equipment & machinery

Designed for the secure transit of excavators, dozers, oversised trucks, or tracked vehicles.

Project cargo logistics

Ideal for massive equipment like turbines, generators, transformers, and structural components that exceed general ISO container limits.

Oversized freight solutions

Supports irregular loads such as steel beams, oilfield skids, container-mounted gensets, or long-span assemblies.

Yard storage & static use

Functions as a stable elevated base for temporary machinery, mobile staging, or remote-site equipment deployment.

Delivery and placement

  • Fully ISO-standard compliant

  • CSC certified for international freight forwarding

  • Designed for twistlock chassis and flatbed compatibility

  • Inspected for deck integrity, corner alignment, and twistlock tension prior to dispatch

  • Load distribution drawings and engineered lashing diagrams available on request

Engineered to move what others can't. Designed for high-performance logistics.

Condition

Used – inspected. Expect honest signs of service such as dents, scratches, previous markings and surface rust; structural soundness is checked before dispatch. Ask for current photos of the actual unit with your quote.

Supply and compliance notes

  • Certifications, inclusions, condition and measured dimensions are confirmed on the quotation and at pre-dispatch inspection.
  • Confirm council, planning and building approval requirements for the intended site and use before ordering.
  • Electrical, plumbing and drainage connections must be completed by appropriately licensed trades.

Customisation

Personnel doors, windows, electrical fit-outs, lighting, insulation, air conditioning, shelving, lockboxes, flooring, internal lining, partitions and plumbing can be specified through a quote. Tell us how the unit will be used and we will confirm what suits it.

Delivery

Delivery is coordinated Australia-wide from the Port Macquarie. Processing takes 1–3 business days; delivery is typically 4–7 business days after processing. The standard charge is $745 per unit (incl. GST) within our standard service area and is shown at checkout once you enter your postcode. Remote, restricted-access, multi-unit and oversize deliveries are confirmed by quotation.

Delivery vehicle

Tilt tray: A straight run behind the placement point (typically about 2.5× the container length plus the truck), firm level ground and clear overhead height. The most common option for 6ft–20ft units: the tray tilts and the container slides off onto the ground.

Illustrative only. Figures are typical; we confirm the vehicle and access with you before dispatch.

Delivery and site access guide

Site access

Before delivery, check for a firm, level placement area, clear truck access and turning room, gate width, overhead power lines and trees, and soft ground after rain. A tilt tray typically needs a straight run behind the placement point; side loaders need clear space along one side. Our team confirms the right vehicle with you before dispatch.

Warranty

Pre-owned units carry a 6 months limited voluntary warranty from delivery covering structural integrity and weather tightness, excluding disclosed cosmetic wear. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not limited by this warranty. Warranty policy · Returns

Questions

Frequently asked about this unit

Is this container wind and watertight?

Used containers are inspected and sold as wind and watertight unless the listing says otherwise; specialised units such as platforms, flat racks and open tops are inspected for structural soundness rather than weather tightness. Ask us for current photos of the actual unit.

Do you deliver interstate?

Yes. Delivery is coordinated Australia-wide from Port Macquarie. Regional, remote and oversize deliveries are confirmed by quotation before you pay.

Is GST included?

Every price on the site is in Australian dollars and includes 10% GST. Your tax invoice itemises the GST component.
